Sunday 1st February
An early start to the day as I have to be at church to open up at Central Hall for 0800hrs which meant leaving home at 0715hrs to walk into the city to church in time. Once I've opened up it's go round and and unlock the rooms to be used and then I have an hour and three quarters to sit and work on my laptop until the service start time comes round. The worship time is the best I've been in for a while as each song we sang was speaking to me personally and even the message says the same thing to me. At the end of the meeting with a gift from a friend I take a long walk home and get some food in. The route I take home is an unknown one but it takes a longer time to get home but saves a longer trip with the need to double back over the route I'd already walked along. So once I'm home it's get some food ready and the it's F & TV for the afternoon before going out to Central Hall for the evening meeting and then lock up, hopefully a rapid exit so I can get to Fair Oak for 2115hrs at the latest. Well church went well and emptied nice and quickly and after a rush up to Fair Oak it's off on the road to Essex. While we were getting sorted out it started snowing and by the time we were on the M3 it started really blizzarding and going through Winchester the road got really slippery. It was funny because all along the slippery stretch of motorway there were fire engines parked up on the hard shoulder at intervals and traffic speed slowed down until the icy road cleared. Once ever this stretch we decide that there was no point in continuing the trip and turn round, heading for Southampton again. The decision not to travel was based on the fact that the snow was going to get worse and would hold us back at the job if we carried on. So once we got back I load my car up and head back home to await a call to say we'd be traveling. During the time there is some conversing by phone and I get booked to lay loft insulation next day instead of Saturday. So it will keep me working instead of veging out and not earning. So now tucked up in bed in a cold flat it's Good Night & God Bless You >>> >>> >>>
Monday 2nd February
Well a snowy day makes things into a different sort of day, not the weather for doing work outside so Essex
was put on hold until after the snow melts and the water clears. Today a nice job was started laying 240mm of loft insulation in place tat a friends house about 20 minutes from home. Having been told to go out at 1000hrs I'm then told to hang back until 1100hrs for the snow to melt and the roads to clear a bit. At 1130hrs I'm parked up and on my way up to the house. On offloading some of the rolls of insulation I load some of the rolls into the loft and get started. It is quite a hard job to get the layers under the eves but the job was soon mastered and the space is soon filled. As well as laying the insulation I have some wasps nests and bird nests to clear out also and that was difficult due to them breaking up as they were moved. It's not long before its 1700hrs and days end. To make it easier I return tomorrow to complete the job, complete with wooden walkway and yet more insulation to install So an uneventful trip home makes for pleanty of time to get food ready and climb into bed and get that warm, so once again it's F.B.TV.Sleeeeeep so Good Night & God Bless You............
Tuesday 3rd February
Another day of snowy weather and the plans of the previous day change again. No work with Jireh Construct
ion but continuation of work putting in the loft insulation and helping install a walkway across the rafters at a local property. This continues to be a relitively easy job but still has it's headaches and causes problems with my boss. During the day the weather cannot make it's mind up what it was going to do, we start with further snow, then sleet, then rain and ending with hail. All this causes the settled snow to start melting and so all the nice looking views slowly disapear and it's back to the normal green views. As the day progresses the loft slowly fills with insulation and by the end of day I'd been finished for an hour, so its off home and get sorted out for food and then the usual Tuesday TV marathon for the evening and so it's F. B. TV. Sleeeeeep. So it's Good Night & God Bless You.
Wednesday 4th February
A day working ins
ide again finishing the instalation of the loft insulation and walkway in the bosses home. Arrival time at the house was 0830hrs,but due to inconsiderate car drivers I ended up 20 minutes late arriving. During the day there was a big thaw that cleared a lot of snow from the roads and ground so the travelconditions were very good. After a cup of tea it was take some rolls of insulation up to the loft and after moving some of the bits in the loft I'm back to laying strips of insulation in between the rafters and then laying some thinner insulation over the top of the lot. Once done it's lay the doors down and move the bits back onto the place they were, and then start again on the next space, and then the next until by the end of the day the whole loft was covered, with an unexpected surplus of insulation being left over. Once cleared up its time to depart home with my body telling me it's had enough, my throat and my knees. Once home at 1810hrs its B.F.B.TV.Phone Call & Sleeeeeeep, so it's Good Night & God Bless You ..........
Thursday 6th February
What did I do at work today, well it was a simple thing that took from 0800hrs to 1635hrs and was not a strenuous activity. The job was to sit and wait for a scaffold tower to be delivered and then help unload
it. Two colleagues were with me waiting and when it turned 1030hrs we started to make enquiries as to when the tower would arrive. Eventually after about 20 minutes we find that the tower had not been ordered and subsequently was at the back of the que for delivery. So having flattened my laptop battery and flattened my phone with social calls I go and have a cup of tea and a sit in the warm and listen to my iPod. So time passes so slowly but eventually if gets to 1615hrs and I see a hire truck pass and go out and wave it in. As soon as it;s offloaded it's time to depart home and I call in via the buiding society to put money in and get some out for diesel. So as usual on arrival home it's F.B.TV.SLEEEP>>>! Tomorrow is the days work we should have done today! So Good Night & God Bless You ......................................................
Friday 6th February
A cold and snowy day and not a day to have to build a tower and go and work on a roof. During the tower erection and dismantaling hands were ice blocks and with the snow were wet as well, even with gloves on. When we eventually got onto the roof it was not good news for working, with wind blowing the sleet around and the roof being covered in sleet when it really needed to be dry for what needed to be done. It seems on checking things out that all the joints on the felt roof need to be covered over with a further layer and be re-welded by hand as the machine that welded the joints orriginally failed to melt the felt correctly and make a good joint. So with a view to redoing the joints we pack up and call it a day. But before we could go home we had to break down the tower and by the time we'd done that a truck from the hire company had arrived to collect it and so we assisted the driver in loading it up. By the time that was done we were able to depart and know the tower had been collected. On my way home I go via Central Hall to collect my wages and have a chat with a number of staff, going up to the bank to deposit the cash in the Rent Account. On completion it's back to Central Hall, collect the car and head for home. On arrival home it's sort out dinner and then it's F.B.TV.Sleeeeeeeeeeep > > > > > > > > > So Good Night & God Bless You
Saturday 7th February
A lazy day in it's entirity, only getting out of bed to get things to eat and drink and to go to the toilet. There's been pleanty of computer time and TV time and keeping nice and warm as well throughout the day and so there's been pleanty of relaxing time and so I should be ready to go and lock up at Central Hall by 2230hrs. Having almost forgotten about locking up, I aim to fight the sleep and go out at an earlier time to prepare for the close down proceedure. At 2220hrs I arrive at Central Hall and check through as much of the building as I can locking up as many doors as I need to on my way to the small hall and room 4 that was in use for the event. When it comes round to 2300hrs the hall is almost empty and so I start to lock up room 4 and then securing the doors in the small hall. After everyone's gone the last bit of the building is secured and alarmed I'm securing the gates and soon on my way home. On arrival it's back into bed and this time its settle down and sleep. So it's Good Night & God Bless You.................................
