Sunday 1st March
A day when jobs from the previouus day were done and then out to church in the evening. Getting up at a leasurely time of 1000hrs its down to St Marys firestation and strip the sterio system off the old bus and leave it at Central Hall for fitting onto the new bus, taking my time and making good any holes with gaffer tape I get the job completed by 1230hrs. So then I'm off back home to get the mountain of washing started and an afternoon of TV watching in between the loads of washing and drying and having my dinner. On job that I decide I needed to do was to go online and cancel all the direct debits and standing orders for the start of the month as my two creditors had not got my payments through in time and so I am completely out of money at a time when I need it most. So it's get on with life until I go out to church at 1700hrs for what turns out to be a very enjoyable talk on Learning to Breath, given by Sim Dendy on of our church leaders after starting the meeting with a hot drink and a cake along with a chat and when wanted prayer as well. So the evening soon ended and after a phone call I found I could lock up the building up and get home at a reasonable time. Due to being in need of being up and out by 0630hrs on Monday I settle down to sleep fairly quickly and so at the end of a good day its Good Night & God Bless You ............
Monday 2nd March
Well it worked out a nice relativly easy day, pick up the company van and proceed to Southampton University, load the van with furnature from the offices we'd used for the job we'd done there and proceed to the RAF Museum at Hendon and deliver it to a new site there. The trip was quite uneventful, stopping at Fleet services on the M3 for a break and then make the final jump to the Hendon via the M1 and North Circular road, a different route to what the satnav was telling us but that was not the route we took and we used the route we were given from base. Eventually we got onto the road we needed to be on and had to make contact with the name we were given to find out exactly where we needed to be, which turned out to be in the museum itself. When we got to main gate security the jobsworth in the box would not let us pass until I had to phone our contact and let the jobsworth speak to him directly, then he let us pass with no further problem. We soon had the van emptied into the containers and we were soon on our way to Cosham near Portsmouth to deliver two filing cabinets. But it was a good job we decided to go down the M3 not the A3 as we'd spoken about, for as we got to Winchester Services we decide we needed to get some diesel, but on arriving at the pumps we find we have not got a key for the petrol cap so we have to limp back to base and not deliver the filing cabinets. When I report in I have to wait for the bosses to get back and then go and fill the van up with diesel ready for another trip on Wednesday. Then it's home for the rest of the day and a dose of F.B.TV.Sleeeeep that happens quite early as sleep was a feeling that came on earlier than usual. So it's Good Night & God Bless You..!Tuesday 3rd March
Well I started a nice steady day with a start at 0830hrs needing to be at the new bus for 0930hrs for a day of work on electrical fitting with Tim the sparks. As we progressed we had to cut holes for the new spotlights and thread new cables in that meant we had to drop out the 24volt strip lights to get the cables behind them. Due to all this, it took most of the day to get completed and so it seemed that very little had been done by days end. So once I get home I get my dinner sorted out and then it's bed and TV for the marathon evening, including Neighbours, Home and Away, Simpsons, East Enders and Holby City. By that time it's getting ready for zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzleep and that was how the day ended up, so it's Good Night & God Bless You..
Wednesday 4th March
Today was a different day with another day of driving and delivery. This time was a trip from Winall outside Winchester to Bristol on behalf of Lakesmere building envelope company. I had to pick up a sample of roofing and deliver it to a building site in Bristol. I left Winall at about 0900hrs and was soon speeding up the A34 towards the M4 and then to go down the M4 to Bristol. On getting up to the M4 I see a man of the road wanting a lift to Bristol, and thinking of the bible passage that says about entertaining angels I pull up and offer him a lift which he willingly accepts as far as the services before where I have to turn off. On the way he tells me that he's not had anything to eat for two days and so we go and have a Burger King meal and then I leave for the rest of my journey. The rest of the trip was uneventful and I soon arrived at my destination. Unfortunately the contact I needed to see was not on site at he time and so I had to leave it with the gate man and then get going again. After an uneventful trip back I get to base at 1500hrs and after changing a break light bulb it's off home for the usual F.B.TV.ZZZZZ So it's Good Night & God Bless You
Thursday 5th March
A day when I ended up rushing around and getting some things done that had to be done and then not doing what I set out to at the start of the day and letting people down. After a morning working on the bus again, my financial problems from Monday were soon to get cleared up when, finding out I had got money in the bank, proceeded to pay out those debters that I'd blown out on Monday. This all went well with me being told by one that there was no need to reinstate my regular payment as there was no more to pay until renewal in April. So one less payment to be made at the start of the month, Praise God! The thing that slowed my day up was the need to get two mobile phones unlocked to take any network. I took it into one place and was told that it would take half an hour to do so come back in that time frame, which I proceeded to do. When I got back there I was told that the shop could not unlock one of them due to problems with their computer. So off I go to another shop and then have to wait for another twenty minutes while it was done, so taking fifty minutes to get the two phones unlocked I have to go to the bank next to get a cheque made out and had to wait in a que to be served there. Eventually by the time I get back to the car it's too late to go and work on the bus for the rest of the day and so clear off home, where I need to do some work, but end up doing my usual thing of F.B.TV&ZZZZZZZZZ (food, bed, tv and sleep) for the rest of the afternoon and evening, so as I always sign off, because it's a good reminder who it is that cares for you, Good Night & God Bless You, trust him and you'll see it's true.Friday 6th March
A manic day where things slotted into place quite nicely. It was an early start having to go and pick up a van from Upham at 0800hrs and get to open the gate at Central Hall by 0900hrs for the bus to get into the gravel car park. At one point I thought I would not get to Central Hall in time, but on making contact I find the driver is running late as well and I would be there before him. So once I get the gate open I head for Central Coffee and a nice hot chocolate drink with a caramel slice to enjoy as well. While sitting there waiting I have chats with different people and then the boys arrive and we go and get on with the work in hand. But we find bad news when the generator is not working properly and needs sorting out. so with that information we clean up the bus and then take it back to the storage yard.. From there I proceed to go and pick up some PA gear from Sound People Ltd and then depart to Bognor Regis to pick up my stage lighting kit and spend the night with the family before the next part of the trip to Caterham on Saturday morning. After a nice time with the family it's soon time to cut the Z's and be dead to the world, so Good Night & God Bless You.
Saturday 7th March
At 0930hrs I start the marathon day departing from Bognor Regis heading for Caterham to meet up with Eliot at school to set up sound and lighting for the school boarders talant show. Initially we were told that we'd be able to set up at about 1230hrs but then got put back to 1530hrs due to school meals stretching out until that time. After finding this out after we'd been for a short trip to town we end up leasurely off loading the gear into the foyet o
f the refectery and then I sit in the corner of the refectery working on this blog and other online things with Eliot jumping in occasionally to do things himself as well. Eventually it comes round to 1530 hrs and then everything gets moving setting out the stage, sound and lighting things and making sure all cables wer secured to the floor with gaffer tape, of which we used over a reel, blame it on health and safety. So once this is all done it's time for dinner and at 1815hrs it's tables away and chairs layed out for the audience. By 1900hrs it's filling up with boarders and the show is under way. With two compares and twenty acts it's a very good show and other than one hicup everything sounds good and looks good with Eliots excellent light show. With breaks for food and icecream it is a good length show and at the end it's pretty late when we start getting packed up and it's 2300hrs by the time it's all away and we're settling down to sleep, I'm staying on the school site overnight so I dont have to drive when tired. So from the cab of the van it's Good Night & God Bless You!
