Germany Arrival & Day One 17th & 18th July 2009

Well dear readers, Miracle Street has arrived in Germany at about 2100hrs (european time) It was a right dose of fun and games all the way with an arrival outside Dover in the middle of a major thunder storm. This made it difficult for me driving a car to see the mainstage and so it was that I parked up and waited for the mainstage to arrive, which it did about an hour after me. With only four hours of sleep and having to be in departures at 0415hrs at Eastern docks it was down to be a shattering day, with a long drive ahead of us. Shure enough the Norfolk Line ferry departed on time at 0600hrs and two hours later we were making our way out of Dunkirk heading for Bruges in Belgium and onwards towards Germany. We get settled into the continental roads very quickly and we're soon enjoying the trip. Town after town we pass along the motorways and I see a number that I had visited during previous visits to Europe. These included Bruges, Ghent and Zwijndrecht, and passed near two towns in Germany that Kathleen will recognise, Osnabruk (spelt wrong) Munster and Clompenburg. But after driving for 643.5 miles and only 123 was english miles, it turned into a long day, traveling through France, Belgium and Holland to reach Germany at the above mentioned time. Soon we had met up with our host, the director of a famous Evangelists organisation and we were soon parked up and off inside for a meal and then bed. The Mission Organisation owns a large amount of land and property just outside Hamburg and we are recieving hospitality staying with other missionaries in one of the houses. After food and drink it's off to bed after a very necessary shower. So that was day one (Friday)
Saturday starts off early with reversing the mainstage out of the road it was parked in and head off to get ready for the first event of the weekend. This took a while to get to the park we were booked in as we came across many low bridges on route and we ended up having a lightning tour of Hamburg on route. Eventually we got to our destination and are soon setting out the mainstage ready for a start at 1530hrs (et) With food and drink arriving quite often the job didnt take long to complete. The one headache we had was the inflatable canopy tried to take off at one point and required the fitting of the storm stakes very quickly in case it repeated the problem during the event. After the event started the wind died back and the canopy was no longer a problem, so thank God for that. It's now 1909hrs and the event for today seems to have finished and I need to get back to helping clear up, so until later with hoopefull some photos to show I bid you all a good night and God Bless you all and thanks for your prays for myself and the whole team, Steve, Tim, Pete, Pat and myself. TTFN (ta ta for now)
Tomorrow is a big day of events so please pray for the program and the weather
