Easter and Holy Week 2010

Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Day................ what do these really mean to us?

To those who are not Christians, these days are just like any others except they are an excuse for time off from school or work and to do thigs at home that would not have been done at other times. They are also an excuse to go and spend large amounts of money on fancy chocolate eggs that we feed to each other and grow fat on at the same time. Some might take the time to get away, spend the holiday out of the country or away from home in the UK.

But to someone who believes in a real living God, my personal friend and one who I'm going to meet when I die, its such a special time.
For when God sent his Son into the world to save us from all the bad things we have done, he asked his son Jesus to die on the Roman Gibbet and take all the bad things we have done and put them on his shoulders and that was why Jesus was put on the Cross with the common criminals.
Jesus, a human being made in the image of God, died in agony without anyone backing him up. When Jesus was suspended on the cross with the other two criminals he asked his father to take away the pain of his suffering and let him die quickly, but he was still there to suffer and eventually the Roman Soldiers broke his legs to kill him off,and then he gave up his life.
Once Jesus was dead he was put in an empty cave in a hillside with a huge stone rolled against it This was a grave bought by a man who wanted to keep it for himself, but when it was needed for Jesus, he willingly gave it and so his body was wraped up and placed in there, and there he was left to rot without a care in the world. But as we are told he did not remain there, three days after he was put in the cave he was found not to be in there. When a group of Jesus friends went to the cave to embalm him properly, they arrived and found the huge boulder that was across the cave entrance had been moved away and the body was missing. Having thought that the body had been stolen, the party went and told his friends, who thought that the authorities had stolen it to avoid any problems with the church authorities. But he had returned to be with his father in heaven and it was later that they met up with him in a first floor room, without one of their number Thomas. But when Thomas caught up with them he did not believe them until Jesus came and met them again and he got Thomas to put his hand in his and then in his side and he felt the dents where the nails went in and so Thomas made the comment of "My Lord and God" and believed... So this is why I believe and I've not even met Jesus, but this is why I find Easter so special and wish you would too. I am part of the biggest family ever, I'd like to be your brother too. Can you believe in God and Jesus without the need to be like Thomas or do you need proof? To know more contact me on the following e-mail address :- alistaire3@gmail.com and I'll try and answer your questions.... Thanks for reading this and God bless you at this special time.......
